To learn where action is needed to protect vulnerable populations now and in the future, CPO’s National Integrated Heat Health Information System (NIHHIS) and partners are launching new community-led campaigns that will map the hottest parts of cities in 11 states across the country this summer. The communities include Albuquerque, New Mexico; Atlanta; New York City; Charleston, South Carolina; Kansas City, Missouri; Raleigh & Durham, North Carolina; San Diego; San Francisco; and parts of New Jersey, Indiana, Massachusetts, and Virginia.

Action for Climate Empowerment is an important part of the Paris Agreement and, as the United States rejoins the world, demonstrating leadership through strong initiatives and collaboration will be key.

Dr. Camargo journeyed from Brazil's most populous city to New York in 1999. She came with little more than a passion for physics and mathematics, as well as a strong drive to leave a mark on the world. Now, an accredited climate researcher and scientist with the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory at Columbia University, Camargo shares her story. The day-long Dialogue is an opportunity for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) climate justice scholars, organizers, and funders to come together to explore how to inclusively engage, inform, and empower the public to participate in just solutions to the climate crisis—an essential undertaking if humanity is to meet the urgency and scale of the challenge.
